Changes to Community Projects
So this year we're going to do things a bit differently. My primary goal as Community Projects CV is to support you, the community. Community Projects doesn't exist solely to run our own projects, we're primarily here to help you out with yours. If you want to run a Project, read this article, as it will explain things in greater detail, and then send a note to haldron.
If you know of an awesome project, and you think we should know about it too, link it here!
Category Changes/Additions
In the past, we added a lot of categories to Community Projects each year, which ended up creating a bit of confusion and quite a bit of misplacement. So this year we're going to try something new! We're going to create categories for ongoing community projects, and also for large holidays. I'll go into a bit more detail about that later in this article.
If we don't have a category set up for a particular cause or holiday, we've got Miscellaneous categories in each of these sections for you to use! If you think something (Awareness cause, Holiday, etc.) needs a category, send me (haldron) a note!
Daily Deviations
As part of the changes, Daily Deviations in Community Projects will change a bit. Namely, a Daily Deviation can only do so much. More time will be spent focusing on promoting and supporting ongoing and fledgling projects, and I think a lot more good can come of that! This doesn't mean that Daily Deviations won't happen, but they'll be a bit less regular from the Community Projects gallery.
That also doesn't mean you can't send suggestions. Send them! Go go go!
Getting Support with your Project
Anyone can run a project on deviantART, from raising awareness for a cause to something fun and artistic. You don't necessarily need to ask for help, and even if you don't want help we'll still be glad to list your project, but if you do want some help running a project shoot me (haldron) a note! I'll be glad to talk with you about your project and we can iron out all the details. You'll be in charge, I'll be here to play a supportive role!
If you're planning on running a project, you may want to check out the Community Projects Project Educate archive! It's got a lot of useful resources.
Meet and Greet
Community-Projects and DeviantArt-related are hosting a collaborative chat event in :#communityprojects: on February 10th! This will function as a bit of a meet and greet as well. Check out fav.me/d4o3egp for more details!
More to Come!
This is just an introduction, but there's a lot to say, and so little time! Stay tuned for more Community Projects articles coming soon!
